Erikson is a small graduate school and research center in child development, founded in Chicago in 1966. Because of it’s size and specificity, the institution’s entire public website is able to be housed in a single WordPress install. Erikson’s director of new media, Gordon Wright, chose the platform and led the build and migration, launching the site in December 2012.

The site was not a full redesign, but rather a complete change of CMS from a proprietary platform that could no longer be sustained. The theme was developed by Joachim Kudish (now at Automattic), and depends heavily on custom post types, the Posts 2 Posts plugin, and the lesser-known Zone Manager plugin.

More information about the process and specifics can be found in a presentation that Gordon made at WordCamp Chicago 2013, WordPress Goes to College: A Case Study.
